AGAV (Autonomous Ground/Aerial Vehicle)
Dragonfly Specifications:
Creep Mode:
- Insect Walk: Legs coordinated as alternating tripods (front and back legs combined with middle leg on opposite side)
- Top/Down: To save power, Grackle deploys Dragonfly at top of building and it walks down
- Site Designation: Pre-programmed to walk to specified location
Drill Mode:
- Doorframe gap entry: Specially designed to install camera through the caulking at the wall edge of sliding glass doors.
- Dual Use Drill Motor: Single motor - Used for drill and to power engine
- Camera: One camera and lens tube is carried in dragonfly body and drilled into wall
Flight Mode:
- Fixed Wing Deployment: Wings spring out for flight mode
- Flight Mode: Flies tail first (away from building)
- Flight Time: Designed so at least 5 seconds of power for flight time is left after crawl and camera/lens deployment. When the motor shuts off, the dragonfly drifts to the ground. May not be used in winds over 5 knots
- Propulsion: Propeller (appears as antenae on dragonfly)
- Unit Retrieval: Beacon RFID tag in the dragonfly is used by the grackle to locate and retrieve it
