Story Map and it's use on Sordida.com

A Mind Map is a tool that is typically used for brainstorming ideas and organizing them into a convenient graphical format. The main subject of the Mind Map is placed in the center of the graph and any ideas that relate to that subject are drawn radiating out from the center. Here is a link to the description of a Mind Map on Wikipedia. This concept is used in Sordida except that the map here is used to provide an iconic overview of the story.

I believe that Sordida.com is the first attempt to tell a story on the Internet using this method, which is called a "Story Map". The story does not have to be read in chronological order, but every segment, or supporting idea, relating to the story is shown as a graphic or link around our geek.

To use Sordida.com, you can hover your mouse over any link and a pop up window will give you a brief description of the content in that segment (if your browser supports Javascript). Clicking on a link will of course take you to that particular segment of the story.

Many segments of the story are pornographic, and are noted as "Porn Segment" in the pop up window.

Plot Synopsis {Spoiler Alert}

Part I - Tells the story of a brilliant engineer that is fired for producing a flying robot that crashes and embarasses his company. He spins out of emotional control, but ultimately is able to work on his own and get the robot to function. However, he develops a deep paranoia about his invention that cause him to keep it secret. His extreme shyness and sexual obsessions cause him to quickly use the robot to spy on and sometimes meet the most beautiful women he can find. But he ultimately falls into depressed disillusionment and uses his invention in one final act of corporate rebellion.

Part II - Our hero hides in Cuba, with really no plan for the future and no worries other than how to get laid on a constant basis. The sex is good, but soon even he misses having an actual life. He soon discovers that he can't undo the past and go home again as a free man. This leads down a long twisted tale, that ultimately leads to him developing a weapon that gives him far more power than anyone has ever had in the history of the world.

A: This story is set just far enough into the future for you to believe that it's possible. You can decide for yourself how long that is.
